King Ludwig II. was born on 25th August 1845 in Castle Nymphenburg (that's around 1 km from where I live :) ). With 19 years he became King of Bavaria on 10th March 1864, after the death of his father Maximilian II. On 22nd January 1867 he got engaged to Princess Sophie of Bavaria, a sister of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, but this engagement was resolved on 10th October 1867. Until his death he was alone.
